To standardize ambulatory COVID-19 PCR ordering and results management, ambulatory clinicians can order directly the COVID-19 PCR test in Epic. This changes the testing process from a referral to a standard order.
When ordering tests, be sure to include the location of the test and the appropriate time frame. Schedulers will arrange for testing based on your instruction.
Patients must have a test 3 calendar days prior to a planned admission or an AGP.
- Results will follow normal ambulatory results routing rules and predominately route to the ordering clinicians.
- COVID-19 PCR results will release immediately to Patient Gateway (previously embargoed for 7 days).
- Review the standard patient instructions available in Epic to provide accurate and complete COVID-19 results management instructions for patients
