Ambulatory Capacity Management

Mission: Connect patients and caregivers through thoughtful design of access and scheduling systems that eliminate delays, remove barriers, and expand patient access to care across the MGH/MGPO ambulatory community, including MGB community hospitals and practices.

Capacity Management partners with ambulatory practice leaders and teams across MGB to:

  • Measure and analyze capacity and demand at the practice, location, cohort and provider type levels
  • Manage provider schedule templates and decision trees, ensuring optimal design to meet patient care needs and strategic access goals for new patients
  • Create or enhance referral orders and/or WQ routing workflows
  • Develop and scale department-specific tools and interventions for access and scheduling optimization
  • Oversee COVID-related capacity management and scheduling functions, including testing, vaccines and monoclonal antibody programs

Access the Ambulatory Capacity Management Request Forms (also linked on the front page of this website) to request changes to (or troubleshoot issues with) templates, decision trees, and/or follow-up orders.
